Amazing Italian food!! We had pizza, pasta and gnocchi and it was all absolutely delicious. The chocolate mousse was a revelation. Family of five all very satisfied at a very good price. If you visit Takayama this should be on your list of places to visit.

Great local pizza and pasta shop in a traditional house with wood-fired oven and an open kitchen. It's only about a 5 minutes walk from the tourist area. They have an English menu.

Amazing hospitality and fantastic authentic pizza. Just a really nice laid back environment that we thoroughly enjoyed. Great for families too with a play room for kids at the back! And our son LOVED the Gorgonzola penne!

An amazing find in Takayama. This place does amazing pizza, pasta etc. Would recommend wood stove pizza, gnocchi and chocolate mouse! Worth the trip outside of the main streets.

We were treated to a wonderful meal prepared by Daisuke, the owner and chef of this wonderful Italian restaurant that he as perfected for the last 15 years! Tucked away in a peaceful and quiet neighborhood, he meticulously prepared a most delicious meal and gave us a memorable evening. It was as though he was our personal chef for the night. Everything was prepared to our satisfaction. You will not be disappointed. Will come again if we every return to Takayama. ご馳走さまでした。

We had pizza, pasta, salads, dessert and coffee. It was all very very tasty and authentic Italian. Would highly recommend. The restaurant is very well decorated as well.

By far the best pizza we had in Japan!!! They were super nice! They even have a children's playing room with all sorts of toys and books.

We had a lovely dinner. We ordered salads, mushroom pasta, gnocchi, and pizza. The pizza dough is very crispy, the tomato sauce was rich and tasteful. The pasta was very nice. We loved it that it was cooked aldente. Above all the hospitality was amazing. We came with our little baby and they were very family friendly. One little tip for future visitors: there is a small children's game room at the back. All wooden games. Very nice.

Amazing pizza and pasta in a super cool location!!! The Hida cheese used on the Margherita pizza is out of this world. Service was impeccable. We will be back tomorrow!

Excellent, authentic pizzeria

Fantastic little hidden gem of a pizzeria in Takayama. Awesome, authentic pizza cooked by the kind gentlemen who served us in his woodfire oven. On a cold night, what else could be better than a nice warm pizza!? What's even better is that we were also served all 3 courses of our meal on time, one after the other, and I have to say that the carbonara and woodfire oven potatoes with herbs hit the spot. Will be back!

Truly wonderful Italian restaurant!! Both the appetizers, the main courses and the deserts were truly amazing! Felt totally Italian and tasted great. if you want to have a break from Japanese food during your holiday this is the one place to go to for sure.

We had the margherita pizza with the local Takayama mozzarella, the prosciutto pizza and the spaghetti pomodoro for the kids. The tomato sauces on both the pizza and the spaghetti were outstanding. The dark chocolate mousse was delicious.

The food is great, the staff is friendly and helpfull. There is a room to play for the kids :-). Our kids loved the pizza and the toys.

I was in Takayama looking for a nice place for dinner and found this cozy gem in 200 year old building. The owner is such a nice guy with great talent and taste in the food, wine selection, and decor. If I lived in Takayama I would dine here every week.

Just fabulous, wonderful old converted traditional Japanese building, very welcoming. Tasty wood fire pizza, pizza base was one of the best I have had. Great drinks menu and great music choice. Thoroughly enjoying this restaurant

So many good things to say. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We did not feel like tourists which was a nice break. The food was excellent. The owner cooks a variety of dishes in the wood fired oven- not just pizza. Everything is from scratch. They are gluten free friendly— not with pasta or pizza but with other dishes. Be sure and order something that utilizes locally made mozzarella. Location is in a quiet neighborhood slightly away from all the tourist atttractions but easy to walk to. We had a wonderful time.

We had an incredible time here. The food was excellent. We had the wood oven vegetables to start. There were two of all the veggies, so it's good to split between two people. We also had the gnocchi and carbonara which I highly recommend. You can sit at the bar and chat with the chief as he cooks. He told us about other places that we should visit in the city. If we could have eaten more, we would have loved to try the pizza. Overall, 5 stars and it's worth the short walk from the old town area.

Really satisfying pizza and some really fresh vegetables. Good flavors and friendly atmosphere. Also, bar across from kitchen lets you watch the chef making the food right in front of you.

Great vibe and really nice food. The owner was really friendly and accommodating to English speaking customers. If you are stopping in Takayama definitely give it a go!

Stumbled upon this place, and it was a very pleasant surprise. Lovely people working there, super quick service, and great wood fired pizzas.

The most amazing place. A one-man show serving the best Italian food outside of Italy (probb better than much within Italy) without ever been in Italy.. Everything is homemade. His stone oven from Milan makes the best pizzas and more. His gnocchis are super tasty and don't forget to check out the chocolate mousse. Don't go here if you want to be served quickly. It may take a while when it gets crowdy. This is literally doing the magic all by himself.However, if you can relax, enjoy good food and appreciate the love and energy that he puts in it; you will have a great time👌We ended up going twice (we couldn't resist 😇).

Always try to avoid non-Japanese cuisine while in Japan. I am glad we chose this place to do an exception.

This place is amazing! Absolutely worth the walk! You will find a stylish little restaurant run by maybe the most friendly guy on earth. The Pizza was great, tasty dough and perfect tomato sauce! Came out of an authentic Italian pizza oven. The pasta was al dente and topped with a rich and tasty sauce. When we wanted to leave, the owner wouldn’t let us go without giving us an umbrella for a present as it rained and we didn’t have one! I’ve truely never experienced such kindness before, just overwhelming!

The restaurant is warm and inviting and the pizza was delicious. They have a marinara pizza without cheese if you are trying to avoid dairy, which I was very happy about. Amazing service and they were flexible about adding toppings.

We went to Pizzeria Hiranagrano as we were missing food from home. We were pleasantly delighted by the member who served us and cooked us dinner. The woodfire pizzas are amazing and the pasta was lovely too. The restaurant had a great ambiance. Great place to visit. It is outside of the touristy area and the staff who served us was really lovely and kind. It is worth a visit if you visit Takayama.

Delicious pizza. Ordered the Margherita and the Vienese pizzas. Very delicious. Chocolate mousse on the menu as well! The have salads, pasta and alcohol. Menus in English and the owner is a good speaker. Highly recommend you eat here

Just in case you have travelled Japan extensively and you'd like a Pizza or Pasta for a change, this Restaurant is perfect for you. Quality is very good, we had a good night

Good pizza baked in a real oven (wood).

Gorgeous restaurant we found while craving Italian food. Beautiful and thoughtful decor giving a very warm and cosy feel. We had pizza and it was easily the best pizza we have had outside of Italy! So much so that we repeatedly asked the friendly and talented owner if he trained in Italy. We also had lovely oven roasted potatoes and a few drinks, which were reasonably priced. Definitely a must try for pizza lovers visiting Takayama!

Wonderful thin yet chewy crust pizza from this small restaurant tucked away in a neighborhood not far from hotels and the train station. The fried gnocci (yes!) was great as well. Attentive staff, great food.

Wonderful pizzas, excellent service and kind people

We wanted a change from the typical Japanese cuisine, and the food here was awesome! The chef does it all: he cooks, serves, takes orders, is the host, etc. He does it all, and he does it well. We particularly enjoyed the Prosciutto Salad and the Cuattro Formaggi Pizza. He even let us park our rental car in his tiny little parking space. The ambience of the place was also nice and cute. Great food and great, kind service!

The best pizza place you can find in Japan !The place is beautiful and peaceful, away from the tourist flow, next to Heritage House. The owners were very welcoming and the food was really incredible. Very nice corner for small children as well.We would totally recommend this place (and the Hida mozzarella) to anyone, thank you !

Get outside the main tourist drag and find this little Pizza/Italian place. The staff is delightful, the food is great and filling, and the cocktails are bountiful and tasty. Vegetarian options available. Prob get a vegan ‘za too without the cheese.

Don't miss the Apple Honey Gorgonzola Pizza, super delicious!

As others have said, go off the tourist path and discover good food at a good price.....a little unusual setting to enjoy too

The best pizza in Takayama

came here with two kids aged 7 and 3. they have a toy room which is fantastic. we could enjoy pizza while they played. service and pizza is also great! definitely recommend.

Best pizza outside of Italy! We went here based on others review and it was even bettwr than we expected. We wanted a break from Japanese food and after a quick search settled on this place. The margarita is sublime, sweet acidic tomato sauce with creamy mozzerella and a smattering of basil. Delicate, crispy perfection

All the dishes we had was delicious! Definelty reccomend the gnocchi & woodfire pizza. The place is hidden away from all the busy bustling streets but above all, it really is worth the visit. The owner was very helpful & nice and even helped me book a taxi back to the hotel i was staying at (so thank you so much!)
